How to Install Ghostwriter in Linux Mint - nice Markdown Editor

There are few ways in which you install Ghostwriter - the text Markdown editor in Linux Mint. In this guide, I’ll share with you two installation methods:

  • terminal
  • Software Manager

Method 1: Install Ghostwriter by terminal

For Linux Mint and Ubuntu derivatives you Ghostwriter is installed by next commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wereturtle/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ghostwriter

Latest available version is 1.8.1.

Note: For older versions ( Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial) ) it is recommended to use the Flatpak package.

Method 2: Install Ghostwriter from Software Manager

You can easily install the most popular application in Linux Mint from Software Manager. Ghostwriter is available for installation from Flatpak:

  • Menu
  • Software Manager
  • Search for Ghostwriter
  • Install
  • Enter root password
  • Install dependencies

Note: Check the installation version - i.e. 1.8.0.

The package will be updated automatically. As you can notice the Flatpak package is not the latest one.
