Undeletable Folders

If you are unable to delete or modify some folders or files on your hard disk(windows xp, 7, vista, 8 and 10). You could try to remove them in safe mode or as administrator - if no success then you can try some of these methods:

Linux live USB

One of the most efficient ways to modify or delete files in the windows operating system is by using Linux live USB. This will allow you to remove or update even the system files of the windows. Be careful because you can damage your windows installation if you remove files which are important for the windows work. This method is tested with windows 7 and 10 but it should work with any windows and computer. The advantage of this method is that you don't need to have administrator rights in order to use it.

  • Create Linux live USB (for unexperienced people I recommend Ubuntu or Linux Mint)
  • Restart the computer
    • if needed change the BIOS setup in order to boot from the USB
  • Start the Linux file explorer
  • Locate your windows partition
    • normally it will be mounted automatically
  • Delete or modify the problematic file
  • Restart normally and boot the windows

  1. Open cmd WINDOWS+R
  2. And enter this command:
  • (folder) rmdir /q /s filename
